KitchenRackets @ Celtic Colours 2015
Jam Sessions
This year we will present our popular late night jam sessions, after Celtic Colours concerts in our immediate area in and around St. Peter's.
Those evenings are Monday, Oct. 12 through Thursday, Oct. 15. Travelling music enthusiasts are welcome to join in a circle of local players, everyone else is invited to sit back and listen. Sessions get underway around 10:30 pm. Each session will be hosted by a local performer to kick things off.
Admission is $5, or just $2 with that evening's concert ticket stub. Free admission for participating players.

Workshops
During those same weekdays we will also be presenting group workshops in fiddle, guitar, whistle, voice and dance with Dwayne Cote, Roger Stone, Jason MacDonald, Paul Davis, Leah Campbell and Roddie's Square Dance Society.
All Jams and Workshops take place at the very hospitable Bras d'Or Lakes Inn, in St. Peter's except for the Square Dance Session as noted below.
All events take place at Bras d'Or Lakes Inn, downstairs at Sessions Lounge and adjacent rooms – except for Roddie's Square Dance, which happens at the St. Peter's United Church Hall.

Guitar Workshops with Roger Stone
These group workshops are $35 /person.

Roger is one of Nova Scotia's busiest traditional songwriter/singer performers, a music teacher, and a native of St. Peter's. He plays guitar, banjo, mandolin, ukulele and just about anything with strings. In his first workshop Roger will help guitar players understand how to approach accompaniment with Cape Breton and Celtic tunes - tempo, progressions, some context, and standard tunes. In his second session he will lead an in-depth workshop into the distinctive accompaniment styles of the late and legendary Cape Breton guitar player Estwood Davidson. Roger promises two killer workshops for guitar-player musicians interested in Cape Breton roots music.

Jason is one of St. Peter's favoured musical sons, and that is no mean feat around here with the incredible music talent. A natural Cape Breton performer, Jason will give you his insider's look at making Cape Breton music as a song writer and performer, and help you try it out yourself.
We are recruiting musicians under 19 yrs old to join Jason's Kids' Jam on Wed. afternoon. If you are a student please register through your school music teacher or email us at info@kitchenrackets.org

Leah is a national champion and international performing dancer who loves to share her artistry and the spirit behind it with enthusiasts who want to try the steps themselves. If you love this culture, you will emjoy this session with one of Cape Breton's young culture-bearers.

Local dancers will introduce you to the steps, give you some practice, then you can join the local dance. Live musicians provide an incredible show for dancers and observers.Tea and refreshments are available.
Luthier Workshops with Johannes Sturm
Talk and demo by a master of the violin maker's craft. Bring any stringed instruments for evaluation, minor adjustments and tuning. $20 /person
