Our first annual Music Camp on the Canal, held June 1-3, was a roaring success according to all who attended. In addition to 42 participants, teachers and volunteers, involved in workshops and jam sessions; another 130 people came out for the All Star Concert at the United Church. We have, and will continue to post photos and videos and your comments to our facebook page at www.facebook.com/stpeterskitchenrackets
We've left the pages promoting and describing this year's camp, so you can see what we offered - and stay tuned for our second annual Music Camp, spring 2013. Dates TBA.

Music Camp on the Canal
The Program
Music Camp on the Canal is designed for amateur players and singers, at beginner and intermediate levels of proficiency. If you can play a half dozen tunes by ear, you’ll be in good company for a rich weekend of hands, and feet-on musical experiences. And there are a couple of opportunities for absolute novices to learn a few square dancing steps, or take an introductory tin-whistle class.
Music Camp on the Canal is a new project, inspired by the week-long program of workshops and jams we have been offering in the past five years during Celtic Colours, in October every year.
On June 1 -3, 2012, we invite you to join us for an intensive weekend experience that will delight traditional music enthusiasts.
Friday night reception features a welcome jam session, pub style - in the warm and inviting log-cabin Bras d'Or Lakes Inn. You'll meet your fellow campers and instructors in a casual setting, and sit in with everyone to explore your repetoire, and enjoy a drink or few and some snacks.
Saturday is chock full of workshops - a communal lunch, some practice and goof-off time, a gourmet buffet supper....and then a concert at the acoustically exquisite United Church sanctuary - featuring your workshop instructors and some very special guest performers. If you still have the energy, join a gang of our local players for a late night jam at the Inn, after the concert.
Sunday you have time to practice, visit with our on-site luthier, shop for cds and books, check out the village - and then enjoy a lovely lunch with performances from Band Lab and Songwriting workshop graduates.
It's going to be a great weekend. Hope you can join us. See the tabs on this page for further information - or just click the links below.
