Kitchen Rackets is proud to announce that our
4th Annual Music Camp on the Canal will be held in St. Peter's, Cape Breton from
Friday June 5 to Sunday June 7, 2015.
WELCOME TO OUR NEWEST CAMP FACULTY THIS YEAR: KELLI TROTTIER, RICHARD WOOD, DELORES BOUDREAU & ADAM COOKE. Plus veterans Roger Stone, Dwayne Côté, Darren McMullen, Allie Bennett, Hilda Chiasson, Paul Davis.... and more....
In our first three years we grew from 30 to 50 to 75 campers - from 3 Maritime provinces and eastern Canada, from New England to California and from Germany and France. We look forward to seeing many of you to return again. We have increased the size of our faculty and the range of workshop themes, and we have a new, larger venue for our workshops.
Music Camp is a weekend experience beginning with a nicely catered reception & jam session on Friday evening; a Saturday full of workshops; a Saturday night All Star Concert featuring our faculty... followed by a Kitchen Racket with campers and players from the St. Peter's community. On Sunday, there's time for a morning workshop or Band Lab practice. To complete the weekend, our Sunday luncheon features performances by Band Lab participants in our Closing Showcase (which could include you!). There is more throughout the weekend: jam sessions, on-site instrument repairs, close-up encounters with your instructors and fellow players from far and near; local artisans market, an instrument swap & sale, great food - lunches and supper are included.
Virtually every camper gave us high marks for providing a fun and worthwhile musical and social experience in our first three years. We received some great suggestions for improvements that we've tried to incorporate this year. Kitchen Rackets 'cooks' have been doing some musical taste-testing and menu planning. Watch this web site for updates.
A la carte workshops also available
If you would like to take just one, or a few workshops you can sign up 'a la carte' and pay by the workshop. Click here to see workshop descriptions. Click here for workshop registration forms.
Who should come: any amateur musician, at any level of accomplishment, who wants to learn some new stuff, close-up and 1 on 1 with some incredible teachers.
We have a Celtic orientation with a world view. Also, you should come if you want to meet and play with like minded musicians. We have an 'accompanist' program for partners who don't play an instrument. Campers are all ages from grade school students to senior citizens. (You don't have to camp, most people stay at the Inn or local hotel, although there is camping available).
Music Camp is all about the people, so we are delighted to announce our faculty for Music Camp on the Canal, 2015 and hoping YOU will join us.
